The United Church celebrates the marriage of all people who believe in love and want to live faithfully, regardless of their orientation.
If you’re contemplating a wedding in the context of a worship service in which you declare your love for each other publicly and in the presence of God, Grace United would be pleased to help you make this possible.
At Grace, our goal is to work with you to ensure your wedding is a meaningful and memorable occasion. Our minister will help you fashion a ceremony that reflects the special way you want to celebrate your relationship.
We believe that marriage is a gift of God through which two people give themselves to each other with the intention of a lifelong commitment of love, respect and mutual support. The covenanting in God’s name is designed to take place in a public gathering.
The setting for your marriage may be our church sanctuary, which seats about 250 people, or another location of your choice.
Our organist/pianist can provide musical support for your wedding and is available for consultation on musical options.
At Grace, the covenant of marriage is open to all people committed to the life of faith regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender or cultural background.
Your wedding date and the reservation of the sanctuary should be booked as early as possible through the church office. It’s your responsibility to obtain a marriage licence prior to your wedding. You can do so at any city hall in Ontario. Most couples give the licence to the minister at their wedding rehearsal.
Fees for the minister, organist, custodian and use of the sanctuary are set by the church board and can be obtained from the church office. The sanctuary fee is waived for members. The church hall and kitchen can be booked for receptions for an additional fee.
Please feel free to contact our minister or church office for more information.
