We need your help if you’re a Grace United Church member — or if you appreciate the contribution our church makes to the community.
Grace’s ability to continue to meet the needs of its members and the community still depends on voluntary contributions. Grace has battled periodic budget shortfalls in recent years and needs contributors to support its mission. Stable funding could be achieved If everyone gave a little bit more. You can do that by mailing a cheque to the church office, by e-transfer at gracect@graceucc.ca or right now by pressing the donation button below to make a contribution with a card or PayPal.
For half a century, Grace has been part of the fabric of northeast Barrie. It has been a caring and welcoming Christian community that has served the spiritual and social needs of many people and fostered many enduring friendships.
It has assisted folks with such milestone events as weddings, baptisms and funerals. It has routinely provided pastoral care to persons with chronic and terminal illnesses. It has helped vulnerable persons by supporting local providers of emergency food and shelter. It has contributed to international missions and emergency appeals. It has opened its doors to many community groups and events, including all-candidates meetings and election voting polls. And it has been a place of worship, Christian education and fellowship.
All of this has been made possible by the voluntary contributions of Grace’s members and supporters. Grace has thrived and survived on the donations of time, energy, skills and money of countless individuals. The church was built in stages over the years with volunteer labourers playing a huge role. The building project, like everything at the church, was self-funded.
Pre-Authorized Remittance
The easiest way to help Grace financially is through PAR — a Pre-Authorized Remittance amount with which you’re comfortable. If you have automatic debits from your bank account to pay for insurance, cable TV, taxes, fuel, or a mortgage, then you understand the PAR principle. It means regular contributions throughout the year that make it easy to donate to the church. PAR provides the church with a steady, reliable income, allowing us to pay our expenses on time. If you’re on PAR, the church still receives the resources it needs if you’re away for a while. You can get a PAR form at the church office or by downloading it by clicking HERE. Just fill it out, attach a void cheque, leave it on the collection plate on Sunday or return it to the church office.
Special Donations/Planned Giving
Special donations and planned giving are other ways to support the ministry of the church. One of the main reasons people give such gifts is because they believe the gifts will make a difference to specific needs, programs or initiatives of the church. Sometimes such gifts are made in the name of a loved one. Those who have a strong commitment to Grace can reflect that in their wills or with other planned gifts. A planned gift is made from assets, not regular income.
In the United Church, 90 percent of planned gifts are made through bequests in wills. Other types include: gift annuities, life insurance, funds from trusts, cash, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, real estate, named endowments and interest free loans.
Planned gifts are retained separately and distinctly from all other church funds and administered by trustees. Please contact our church office if you’re considering a planned gift to Grace.
