Joanne Polcz was welcomed as our Administrative Assistant in February 2022, bringing with her experience from previous positions in the airline, food service, health care and social service sectors. She came from Empower Simcoe to Grace in her first foray into the faith/spiritual realm. Joanne’s breadth of experience has proven valuable in a job that requires her to be a first contact person for visitors at times, an in-house communications overseer, manager of databases and rental space, newsletter coordinator and administrative assistant to the minister, church board and committees, among other things. Joanne gets it all done with efficiency, aplomb and grace. Unsure of a career direction as a student, she made some course changes before she decided to follow in her mother’s footsteps into the administrative field. Her switch from secular to church work has been a good fit. “I expect to happily take this job on into my retirement years,” she says. Joanne is the mother of three grown child, two of whom live with her. “We have a full and chaotic house with fur babies,” she says. “When I am not looking after anyone in the house, you can find me outside with my “friend-family” — “hiking, running, biking, snowshoeing, etc.”
